Jerry Romano is seasoned veteran with more than two decades of experience in Sales Management, Operations and Production in the areas television programming and digital media. This includes syndicated and broadcast programming, series and event production, cable network startups and IPTV programming.
He started his career with the historic launch of MTV and did the opening camera shot when those first words were said, “You’ll never look at TV the same way again”. Ever since then Jerry has been at the forefront of the industry. From utilizing the first portable video equipment in the late 70’s, to the birth of cable television in the early 80’s, to the first use of non-linear editing systems for a live broadcast, HDTV production in the 90’s, to launching IPTV programming services.
He has managed a video tape duplication company and at CBS created the business unit and managed the staff that marketed CBS Broadcast Center to external clients. This included scenery, studios, post, mobile and satellites. At The Image Group he spearheaded all business development activities for New York’s largest Studio and Post Production facilities services company. He excels at developing client relationships and managing staff.
He turned his passion for food and expertise in the entertainment business into the very successful Hamptons Wine & Food Festival, which attracted celebrity chefs, top sponsors and The New York Times as the exclusive media partner.
Jerry has had a long association with the Emmy organization as Chairman of the Emmy Awards in New York and Executive Producer of the broadcast. With the National Emmy Awards he is sits on the Finance and Awards Committees. This past year he was asked to join the Consumer Electronics Show, Content Advisory Committee.
He produced the very successful 30th News & Documentary Emmy Awards broadcast. He elevated the look of the show to broadcast standards, redesigned the production path, took 30% out of the previous year’s budget, built new titles, graphics and paced the show to run faster.
Jerry lives in Sea Cliff on the North Shore of Long Island with his wife and two teenage sons. He is very active in the community with hosting fundraising dinners and as member of the Sea Cliff Beach Committee.
